Music Staff at South Main


carey cannon Carey Cannon (Minister of Music) joined the South Main staff in July of 2013. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from UNC-Greensboro, Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from George Mason University, and his Bachelor of Arts from Furman University. Carey moved to Houston from Charlotte, NC where he served nine years as minister of music at Providence Baptist Church. While in Charlotte Carey was an Associate Conductor for the Charlotte Children’s Choir and Adjunct Faculty for the UNC-Charlotte Men’s Glee.
Prior to his call to ministry, Carey was stationed in Washington D.C. as a bass vocalist with the U.S. Army Chorus and performed regularly for heads of state, dignitaries, and White House events. In addition to his time in service, Carey served as a chorister with the National Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys. Carey and his wife Janet were married in 2003 and have two children Caroline (8) and Duncan (6).


Brenda Brundrett Brenda Brundrett began her church ministry work at South Main as Membership Manager in 1999. She became a member of South Main Baptist Church in 2001 and transferred to the Music Ministry in 2008.
Before coming to South Main, Brenda enjoyed working in the church ministry of Pilgrim Lutheran Church & School, located in the Meyerland area of Houston, as Executive Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor. Prior to the church office, she worked with children, parents, and teachers in the school office as the Attendance and Records Manager and school nurse.
Brenda is married to Rob and they have one son, John. Rob and Brenda currently reside in Manvel, Texas. John lives in Houston and attends the University of Houston.


no-imageLeigh Anne Bryant is the new Children’s Ministry Associate at South Main Baptist church. Leigh Anne was on the cradle roll and was one of Miss Zimmie’s babies. She is the daughter of Larry and Jackie Koch who were members at South Main in the 70s and 80s.
Leigh Anne holds two degrees from Texas Tech University: a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Master of Business Administration in Management. For ten years, she served as a professional singer and director of children’s music programs at St. John’s United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s on-the-Plains Episcopal Church, both in Lubbock.
Leigh Anne has been teaching second grade and kindergarten for the past four years for Klein ISD and is also certified in all-level music and early childhood. Leigh Anne is married to Matthew Bryant, and they are members of the Young Couples Sunday School class.
