Adult III

At SMBC, we have many rich opportunities for senior adults to be involved in the life of the church. Whether it’s Bible Study opportunities, Wednesday Night suppers, retreats, trips, South Main At Home groups or other fellowships, you will find a group of senior adults bonded together by the love of Jesus Christ.

Ministry Overview

Adult III Council

Adult III council 2

Current members of the Council are: Ann Chaddick, Russ Chaddick, Joyce Gardner,  Janie Nathans, Kieth Payne, Ouida Pyle, Margaret Rankin, David Smith, Glenda Smith, Virginia Westmoreland, Peter Almond, and Waymon Worsham. MainStreamers

Open to all Adult III members and guests participants, MainStreamers meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Activities include a variety of  table games including bridge, dominoes, etc, then lunch, followed by a program. This is a great time of fellowship. A complete listing of the dates and program plans is shown under MainStreamer on Adult III page.

Main Ties Ministry

This organization is made possible through the MainTies Ministers who are assigned individuals who are no longer able to attend church.  MainTies Minister visit homebound people on a regular basis, delivering devotionals, flowers, birthday cards and other important information to keep them connected with their church family.  MainTies is directed by council members Joyce Gardner and Janie Nathans.  Presently serving are: Anne Fowler, Alan Smith, Knox Clark, Damon Ankenman, Kelly Funderburk, Glenda Smith, Arthur and Janet Marshall, Tucky Pain, Cristal Roth, Keith Payne, Clarence and Connie Bell.

Volunteering

South Main Baptist Church has mission activities that allow more of the Senior Adults to give aid to people in Houston, Harris County, Texas or around the world.  SMBC supports volunteers working in these areas:

  • Clothing Center
  • Food Pantry
  • S.M.I.L.E. (South Main International Learning Experience)
  • Ministry to the homeless (Manna)

Senior Adult volunteers are found in all these programs.  The church office can give you the contact for any mission in which you have an interest.  Call 713-529-4167.

Dallas – George W Bush library, Biblical Arts Museum and 6th Floor museum
Austin – Capitol Building, painted churches in Schulenburg

These are only a few of the highlights of the trip. All of these trips include great shopping and wonderful places to eat. Plans for our next trip are under construction. For more information contact Lonnie Campbell @ Lonnie@smbc.org

Welcome

We are a family of Grace, discovering Jesus Christ and sharing His Love with the world. Located in the heart of Midtown Houston, we draw family members from the seven surrounding counties and hope that very soon, you will join us.
