Interim Youth Ministers
Suzann Herrmann (email@example.com) and J Hill (firstname.lastname@example.org) are currently serving as our Interim Youth Ministry Associates. J and Suzann have existing relationships with our youth as well as amazing gifts which complement each other.
Suzann grew up at South Main, received an engineering degree from Montana Tech, and began working with the youth department four years ago.
J Hill, his wife Hillevi, and their daughter Isabella who is a senior in high school, are also familiar to our congregation. J grew up at South Main and seven years ago he became a consistent leader in the youth area teaching Sunday School, going to retreats, and leading at youth camp.

South Main Youth Musical Revue
What do Captain Li Shang from Mulan, Enjolras from Les Miserables, Lumiere and Mrs. Potts from Beauty and The Beast, and Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked all have in common? They are making a special appearance as part of the South Main Youth Musical Revue on Sunday, March 5! Bring friends, fans, and family to worship and then to the Fellowship Hall for a delightful brunch and entertainment hosted by the SMBC Youth. There will be two performances of the Revue: 11:30 and 12:30. The performance requires no reservations or payment. Brunch will be served beginning at 11:15. Pricing for this special meal is $10 for adults and $8 for youth (regular pricing of $5 for children).
Spring Break Construction Mission Trip Helping Flood Victims
The South Main Construction Missions Team is working with the Texas Baptist Men’s Long Term Disaster Recovery program to help repair homes damaged by flooding in the Southeast Texas and Louisiana. If you and your youth (12 and older) are interested in spending Spring Break (March 12-16) making a difference, sign up now. The cost will be $175/person and includes t-shirt, background check, insurance, food and lodging. You don’t have to be a experienced construction worker! Several of our construction team members are planning to go and will gladly help folks learn.
If you think you might be interested (even if you are just a maybe), let us know by going to our Construction Team opportunities signup form at https://goo.gl/forms/WNjSD9LZW61lKqIS2. We need to nail down our team by mid-February, so sign up now. If you have any questions, you can contact Steve Rader at 713-447-7867 or email@example.com.
Youth Camp 2017
Mark your calendars now for Youth Camp 2017. We will fly out of Hobby airport early on the morning of Sunday, July 16 into the Denver airport and return on the evening of Friday, July 21.We take a shuttle to/from the Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA and we are staying in the Silver Sage Lodge with rooms that sleep 6 (1 queen and 2 sets of bunkbeds) and have a private bathroom. Activities at the Y include basketball, billiards, foosball, indoor swimming pool, indoor roller rink, table tennis, volleyball, bocce ball, croquet, hiking, horseshoes, ladderball, trike park, 18 hole mini golf, trail running/walking, and a summer tubing hill in addition to other great activities for additional cost. Snow Mountain Ranch is just 10 miles from Winter Park so we can return for there for additional activities. I’m working on a new approach for small group and Bible study that I think leans into the developmentally appropriate needs of the kids. Also we are going camp alone this year, so no other churches will be joining us.
Lots of change this year, but promise to hold on to the “can’t live without traditions” which is why Kevin Sinclair will be joining us as our Camp Preacher!
Cost for camp is $525 and down payment will be due in May.
On Feburay 19 at 12:45 we will have an informational meeting about all things summer and updates on the Family Ministry. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!
