MainStreamers' Council
This group of Senior Adults plans the many activities of the senior adults. Members of the MainStreamers' Council are chosen for this task to assist with the various activities of the MainStreamers. Council meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
Current members of the MainStreamers' Council are:
Cliff Brunson, Lonnie Campbell, Glenn Carvel, Joyce
Gardner, Edith George, Leonard Lane, Bobbye Lott, Janie Nathans, Tucky Pain, Mary Pool, Joe Pyle, Quida Pyle, Margaret Rankin, David Smith, Ginny Warren, Jim Warren, Ruth Vander Wilt, Twila Worsham, and Waymon Worsham.
This group of devoted senior adults assists in planning ministries and activities for South Main’s seniors. Among them:
Main Streamers meets twice monthly for table games, lunch, and a program that is sometimes educational and sometimes just for fun—but always entertaining.
Main Ties ministry to those who are no longer physically able to attend church, is directed by a council member, with assistants who assure those members they are not forgotten.
Thanksgiving Luncheon is an annual church-wide gathering, reminding us of our many blessings, including the Lord’s Supper shared around the table.
Adult III Retreat, held annually each Fall deep in the Texas Piney Woods, is three days of Bible study with a guest speaker and musician; games, food, bonding with friends, and communing with nature.
As needs arise, whether with children, youth, or church-wide, this group “rallies the troops” of senior adults who are always willing to minister where needed.
Volunteering
South Main Baptist Church has mission activities that allow more of the Senior Adults to give aid to people in Houston, Harris County, Texas or around the world. SMBC supports a Food Pantry and a Clothing Center, and minister to internationals who are temporarily in Houston through the SMILE program. Senior Adult volunteers are found in all these programs. The church office can give you the contact for any mission in which you have an interest. Call 713-529-4167.
