You have probably noticed the beginning stages of construction work at the Richmond/Spur 527 intersection. TxDOT has begun mobilizing crews and preparing to start work within a few weeks. This project’s scope is the reconstruction of the existing frontage roads and intersections, sidewalks, curb ramps and pavement markings for State Spur 527 from Richmond avenue to Alabama Street, South East of downtown Houston.
A few things to note:
Beginning on, or soon after February 22, the Richmond exit off of Spur 527 will be closed. Drivers will be rerouted to use the Travis Street exit.
The work at the Richmond intersection is scheduled to begin on, or soon after February 22 and continue through early March.
The total project is estimated to run 220 days, roughly 8 months.

TxDOT has reached out to the church, and been a good neighbor in the planning for this project. On February 8, Brad Jernberg, Bill Pugh, and Mark Gribble attended a pre-construction meeting at their office. We received a detailed description of the schedule and scope of work, as well as a contact list for all subcontractors and TxDOT officials working on this project.
As we learn further details of this project, we will communicate as early and as often as we are able.
