 Friends of South Main Baptist Youth:
IT IS AUCTION TIME AGAIN!!! Our church has sponsored our youth for their mission trips for several years and we are excited about planning our next Youth Auction on Sunday March 28.
Mission opportunities for our high school students this summer include continuing work with Operación San Andrésin Peru. OSA provides:
- medical services
- after-school enrichment
- vacation Bible school program
- small construction projects
Our middle school students will stay in Texas at a church that needs a Vacation Bible School program and help with things like landscaping and small construction projects.
The purpose of these mission trips for our students:
- develop their faith
- develop into globally-concerned adults
- learn how God’s love lives through everything they do.
The Youth Auction subsidizes the costs to students and families, which is anticipated for the week-long mission trip to Peru at approximately $1,500, while the middle school trip is approximately $400.
Our 2010 Youth Auction will be held in the gym at South Main on Sunday, March 28 immediately following the 11 a.m. service. Lunch will be provided for a nominal fee.
In order to enable our youth to make these missions opportunities happen, we need you to:
- Donate items for the auction.
- Attend the auction
- Support the youth through purchasing items
Our youth will be visiting your Sunday School communities soon to remind you of this fun event and of the need for your participation. We are specifically requesting that you donate new items and/or goods and services such as sports tickets, vacation rentals or baked goods. We believe that gently-used items can better serve some of South Main’s other ministries, such as SEARCH and the EAC. Through your donations we can help every student at South Main grow in God’s love by participating in these awesome mission trips. Here is a form for you to use when donating an item. Please bring items to the church by March 13, with this form completed. Items may be dropped off any Sunday at the Youth Center, or Monday-Thursday in the main office.
