Carey Cannon Called to Highland Park United Methodist Church

Dear South Main Family,

In July of 2013 you made a pledge to be the Family of God to the Cannon family in this place. You have taught us how to eat tacos for breakfast, cheered our children on at sporting events, cleared out our flooded home, stood in affirmation for both Caroline's and Duncan's baptisms, and worshiped and served with us in countless other ways. You truly have offered your love, your care, your kinship, and your hopes to us, and for all of this we are so very thankful for each of you.

Ephesians 4:1 says, "I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." That call was received in 2004 when I left the military to pursue a lifelong vocation in music ministry beginning at Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. God's voice was heard again when we received God's call to South Main. And now, God has once again affirmed this calling to be lived out at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, as the Director of Music, Arts, and Worship beginning in January 2022.

There is joy and excitement for this new calling; however, it is hard to leave the South Main family. South Main has a long legacy of musical excellence, a passion for ministry for others, and a congregation of wonderful people who have become so dear to us. We are excited to see all that is to come through the ministries of this great church and the growth and development of the city of Houston surrounding its campus. It has been a privilege to serve alongside you, minister to you, and receive from you by God's grace.
