Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will direct your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6

At the end of January, 2017, I was diagnosed with cancer and I was devastated.  Most of my life, I have been blessed with good health!  I had retired from teaching and I was looking for some voluntary service.  I was numb and did not know whether I would live or die.  That was when I prayed for guidance from God.  I wanted God to lead me in what He had planned for the rest of my life. I am a private person and did not feel that I could talk about it to others. It was just too difficult! I did find extreme comfort talking to God.  I was going to take each day at a time continuing to follow God’s will.  I could feel His presence with me every day.  God is Good!  Through prayer, I prepared myself to be ready for what would happen to me. Each day, I began to see some encouraging signs and I knew that God was with me.

On my last day at the hospital, Dolores Rader came by for a visit and a prayer!  She had heard about me from the Cannons from a teacher that had taught at their school. Steve Wells heard about me and I was told that the church staff would pray for me at their meetings. Then my partner, Ilene, decided to do updates online and more people got involved with prayer and encouragement. These prayers blessed both of us throughout our year-long cancer journey. God was with me through my chemo and radiation treatments and the long surgery in November.  In January of this year, my cancer doctor declared me cancer free. Praise God from whome all blessings flow! Remember that God is always with our South Main Family. I am coming back to Children’s Sunday School as soon as I can.

During the Lenten Season, let us share God’s Love and realize His greatest sacrifice of Love for all of us.

Heavenly Father, just like you have been with me on my cancer journey and others that have called on You, we are eternally grateful for the journey to the cross that we are going through at this time of year and may we take the time to tell others about your eternal gift. In your most Holy name, we pray. Amen.
