Due to the rapid surge of COVID-19 cases in the Houston area that is once again straining our hospital resources, and because we are seeing increasing numbers of "breakthrough" cases in vaccinated individuals (particularly among the elderly and immunocompromised), the COVID-19 Advisory Task Force has made the decision to temporarily require masks for all people (over the age of 2), regardless of vaccination status, while indoors at South Main.
We remain grateful that our vaccination rate is extremely high among eligible South Mainers. Combining this with the added layer of protection gained through masks, we believe this is the wisest course of action to keep our unvaccinated children and other at-risk members safe.
We also believe this will allow us to continue to gather without distancing or limiting capacity to worship, discover, and share together which is so important to us all.
The Task Force will continue to monitor data in the Houston area and re-evaluate this requirement on an ongoing basis.
