Hello, South Main! My name is Bethany Scott, and I’m thrilled to be your new Minister to Youth. I’m a lifelong Houstonian from the northwest side of town—I grew up in Cypress, and my family now resides in Tomball. My husband, Ryan, and I celebrate seventeen years of marriage this month, and we have two kids. Riley (11) is going into sixth grade, and Caleb (9, almost 10) is heading into fourth grade. When I find myself with a free afternoon, I enjoy reading, thrifting, and bass fishing. Whatever I’m doing, I probably have coffee nearby. In addition to work and family, I am in my second year at Truett Seminary pursuing a Master of Divinity.
Before coming to South Main, I served as the Groups Director and Young Adult Ministry Leader at Houston Northwest Church. Although this new role differs from my previous ministry, I believe the experience translates in meaningful ways and prepared me well for serving South Main's students. In my short time here, I’ve observed the youth at South Main are passionate about Jesus, serving their community, and deepening friendships, all with an undercurrent of fun. Said another way, they are a blast. I look forward to getting to know them—and you all—better in the days to come. We’re grateful and excited the Lord led our family here; it’s been nothing short of wonderful thus far.
