Steve Wells and Dolores Rader walked us through how to talk to kids about sin. Pastor Steve unpacked Psalm 51 giving us some really great imagery for three different types of sin in ways that make sense to kids -
- Missing the mark like in archery
- Walking around like a sheep with your head down not paying any attention
- A defiant raging bull
Dolores walked through the steps in responding to any hard question children have in the Bible. Then we tackled some different kid perspectives on how they could feel about sin from not recognizing that our actions can hurt others to being overly worried about hurting others or doing bad things. Tov and Ra are Hebrew words which provide both the nuance and clarity our English words “good” and “evil” lack and provide the litmus test to truly assess what is sinful.
