Sermon – "A Light Unto the Gentiles"

Comfort in Hope – Week 3
January 21, 2024 at 10:25 am

We have been examining a number of familiar passages from the book of Isaiah, seeking a sense of comfort in the hopeful, forward-looking words of the prophet. This past Sunday, the metaphor of light arose in the text, encouraging us to find comfort and hope in the idea of identifying ourselves as God sees us, worthy, bright, and useful both to God and one another. Following our worship, our special guest, Dr. Miroslav Volf from Yale University, further illuminated our understanding of God by urging us to take up the question: What is Jesus Christ for us in our lives today? Wrestle with this challenging inquiry this week, anticipating as you do that you’ll find hope and comfort in God’s reply.
