This past Sunday, we continued more deeply into our Lenten sermon series looking at the Scripture related to Jesus’ time on the Cross and what was said to Him and about Him during those most consequential hours. This week, we examined the words of the Penitent Thief, who said to the other criminal also being crucified next to Jesus, “This man, Jesus, has done nothing wrong.” He then asks Jesus to remember him when He enters into His Kingdom and is told that they will be together in Paradise this day. This week, consider the notion of Atonement, how though free from sin, Jesus bore our sin so that we could enter into God’s righteousness. This is who Jesus was and is—He who became sin to save us.
