Sermon – "The Way Out of Despair"

This past Sunday, as we continued our sermon series on selected Psalms, we examined Psalm 42 and the stirring movements within it. Transitioning from despair and sorrow to hope and concluding in praise, this lyrical and heartbreaking text might be characterized as a conversation the Psalmist is having with himself, persuading himself what he knows to be true despite his present dire circumstances. His soul is downcast, but he also knows his faith in God will see him through. This week, read through this Psalm and recall a moment or season in your life during which, though despair threatened, your faith in God proved well placed.
