Sunday Worship – September 17, 2023

Sunday, we situated our belonging in our identity as people of the Promise. If we belong to Christ, Paul writes in Galatians, then we are “Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the Promise.” Belonging is so much larger than ourselves—our belonging has been proven through God’s faithfulness from generation to generation, and we can stand on these promises (as we will sing about on Sunday). We will also lean into times of sorrow when it feels as if God has not kept His promises, as the Sanctuary Choir sings “City Called Heaven.” The hymn “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" assures us, however, that tracing the rainbow through the rain will prove the Promise is not vain, that morn shall tearless be.
