During the week of June 22 to June 26, 36 of our MainKids came to church for WDS Club Camp! We started every morning of camp doing the most important thing—worshiping God in Little Church. During Little Church we learned about the liturgical calendar and different church traditions that are important to us. The 4th graders were the leaders during Little Church—praying, reading Scripture, being the ushers during the offertory, and helping others when they needed a hand with finding the hymn we were singing.
After Worship we then split into our small groups where we opened our Bibles to Discover God’s Word. We reviewed all 25ish of the Bible stories we learned throughout the year, REMEMBERING the people in the story, where it took place, and the plot of the story.
Each day also consisted of a lot of fun! We left campus most afternoons so that we could have a big adventure. We let our minds play at the Children’s Museum, we were creative at Mad Potter painting our very own plate, bowl, or mug, and we walked to the movie theater to watch Toy Story 5! On Thursday afternoon we had water day at the church, playing with water balloons and fun inflatable water slides.
To finish off each day we would end back in our small group rooms so that we could get ready to Share all that we remembered from our Bible stories that we learned. Each grade picked one or two stories where they then became the characters, wrote a script, picked out costumes, back drops, and props so they could tell the Bible story on Friday afternoon for our parents and church family as a part of the Living Wax Museum. Our 4th graders made a slight change to their wax museum and instead hosted a late-night talk show where they interviewed each other as the characters of the Bible story they picked.
Overall it was a fantastic week of Worshiping, Discovering, and Sharing with the MainKids as we remembered our Bible stories and formed 2:00 AM friendships!
