Sanctuary

Our sermon series focusing on the vibrant stained glass in our Sanctuary continues as we turn our eyes upon the window depicting a lion, representing Judges, a book of the Bible at the heart of the Old Testament. This colorful window directs us to the story of a farmer named Gideon, a member of the smallest tribe in all of Israel, who was called upon to defeat Israel’s enemies, the Midianites, with only a small band of soldiers. This narrative describing a reluctant hero offers us a crucial truth about our faith, and it’s this: God’s vision for our lives is usually bigger than our own, and it takes a measure of real courage to embrace God’s epic vision and our role in it.
