ADVENT 2020 SCHEDULE

Our Discipleship Committee will once again enhance our journey through Advent by providing devotions written by South Mainers three times a week. Together, we will explore the questions, “What does Sanctuary look like? and Where do I find Sanctuary?” Look for these gifts on the South Main blog and by email on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The anticipation and excitement in our children's eyes will proclaim the joy of Christmas as they safely immerse themselves in the Christmas story. Look for information about this pandemic-friendly version of Journey to the Baby next week. Reservations will be required.
As the year moves toward a conclusion, we gather to offer prayers, seeking comfort for the sorrow visited upon us during this challenging year. Whether to memorialize the difficulty of this year or to remember a loved one who passed away in the recent past, this service will provide a time and space for consolation. The time will offer healing in the form of comforting music, an opportunity to (if desired) light a candle to tangibly mark your loss, and finally, a short message to help us acknowledge our grief and find hope in God’s presence during this Advent season.
Your presence is encouraged either in-person or online to attend ongoing suffering and trials in your life or to provide care and comfort for others. This service will be held in the Westmoreland Chapel and streamed online. Reservations will be required to attend in-person.
Join us in our Sanctuary or online to hear Pianist Marvin Gaspard offer musical meditations through carol arrangements for piano. Reservations will be required to attend in-person.
This challenging year has presented an opportunity for our church to share in a special Advent presentation. Sanctuary in Light: A South Main Christmas Story will be streamed online at 6:30 PM on December 23. This unique offering will include a series of sacred moments told through the pouring of light through our stained glass, then continuing with inspirational Gospel readings, music by our choirs, and brief but enduring messages from which we claim the strength our faith provides us in this Christmas season. Join us as we find Sanctuary together.
