At this stage in life, engaging a child's interests, forming friendships, and discovering God’s character through the Bible and experiences with God’s family are the things that matter most. Every Sunday morning, kids are given opportunities to read, sing, play, think, serve, worship, create, and pray in Sunday School, Little Church (a unique worship service for Pre-K through 2nd graders), and "big church". Afterward, opportunities to learn and grow continue in the "Worship Discover Share Club" and, at certain times of year, with the MainKids Musical.
Every Sunday, dedicated teachers show up to welcome kids by name, connect with them, and help connect them to Jesus. We have a strict policy requiring at least two teachers in each classroom at all times, and all of our teachers have gone through our Child Protection Policy training and passed a background. For PreK through 4th Grade we use ShelbyNEXT to check them in, if you are a guest with us please check in at our Welcome Desk on the 1st floor of the Loessner Building past the Welcome Center.
Kids also serve and lead every Sunday as ushers, musicians, prayer-givers, scripture readers, and greeters in Little Church. Worship begins in "big church", with Kindergarteners and older children standing side-by-side with people of all ages in the Sanctuary. At a specific point in the service, Kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders are invited to leave for Little Church, which takes place in the worship area on the second floor of the Loessner Building.
On Wednesday evenings, kids can have dinner together with their families in the Fellowship Hall, and then ring hand chimes or handbells, sing in graded choirs, and experience fellowship and fun—all while discovering more about a God who loves them more than they can imagine.
