Murphy and Jaylen Anderson

Murphy Anderson's first experience at South Main was attending the memorial sevice for a close friend. He knew at once that he needed to be part of the life of this church.

He contacted South Main through the website and asked to meet with a minister so he could get to know what South Main was all about. "I know they were all busy people—but on my first visit here, everyone I talked to stopped what they were doing and listened to me as if I was the only person at church."

Murphy joined South Main and also started bringing along his grandson, Jaylen, who is an active part of the youth group in the Family Ministry. What makes South Main special, Murphy says, is "the way everyone is accepted as they are. You're not asked to act a certain way or dress like others. You 'come as you are' to hear the word of the Lord."
