The Wheeler Family

Brandon and Krystol Wheeler have been members of South Main since 2013. They joined a young couples Sunday School community—which quickly became a young family community when 13 babies were born in a 6-week period!

Krystol says, "I hadn't attended church for ten years until I found South Main." She loved the traditional music and hymns of her Baptist upbringing and also wanted a faith home that was welcoming and affirming of her own gifts. "From our first visit, everyone was so inviting and friendly. Everyone we spoke with seemed engaged and plugged in somehow. We were thrilled to find four Sunday School class options for our age range! Now, I go as often as I can and participate in Sunday School activities and Family Ministry opportunities. My parents also attend now, and we all sit together on Sundays."

As a marriage and family therapist, Brandon often teaches adult Sunday School courses about relationships and mental health issues. "What's really amazing about South Main," he says, "is the depth of experience. South Main is the most vibrant community I've ever seen at a church. We visited because of South Main's reputation. We decided to join because we felt so welcomed. We bring our family and friends because the staff and congregational leaders sculpt an experience that is deeper and richer than any other church we've seen. South Main's emphases on personal Bible study and active engagement with community foster both personal growth and strong friendships. South Main has become a beacon of love and stability in the life of my family. It has given me a deeper purpose and wonderful friends. My faith is absolutely stronger because of South Main."
