Belong – Week 6

Jesus tells us that we must become like little children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. This Sunday in worship, we enter a similar posture of humility, as we explore what children teach us about belonging to God’s family. The service will offer beautiful examples of child-like faith, as our first graders will be presented with Bibles, our Sanctuary Choir sings “As a Little Child” with a child soloist, and we covenant with a family to walk alongside them in the path of parenthood. Join us in practicing child-like faith and celebrating belonging together.
Good News Preview – "Children of God"
What does it mean to have a childlike faith? We explore this idea together this week as we look at the words of Jesus in Matthew 18 and see through childlike eyes how we can belong.
Monday Over Coffee: "Liminal"
Johannes Vermeer is most well-known for his beautiful painting, Girl with a Pearl Earring, but he painted another called, Girl Asleep at a Table, which can be seen at the Met in New York. What's Coming Up
1st Grade Bible Presentation
Do you remember receiving your very first Bible? Maybe it included a handwritten note citing scripture from your children’s minister and the signature of your pastor at the front. Surely it was prayed over so you might have a life-long love of scripture and reliable navigation for all your days. This is the very gift our first-graders will receive in the worship service on September 24. Each week they will read from these Bibles at church and at home establishing a foundation steeped in God’s Word and a habit of regularly reading scripture.
Tough Topics: Social Media
The Family Ministry is hosting a series of conversations on some tough topics to navigate with our kids. First up is Social Media, not just how we talk to our kids about it, but how do we, as parents, approach social media. We welcome Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart from A New Day Pediatric Psychology back to South Main to guide us through this conversation.
