Finding God in the Darkness....
A time I had when the light came on for me was when I was in an anxiety stage in my life. At this time, I was dealing with fear controlling my life. I was afraid to be alone or go to sleep. I eventually wanted to see a counselor. I saw her for about a year for that issue. It took a while but I figured out how to trust God. I developed a system. In my Bible I found a verse about not being afraid.
Psalm 91 talks about being kept safe by God. Psalm 91:5 says, "You won't have to be afraid of the terrors that come during the night."
The moment I read it, I knew that it was perfect. I read that same verse, in that same Bible, every single day. And when I went on vacation and left my Bible, I saved a picture of the passage on my phone so that I could still read it every day.
The day I found that verse was the day I realized that God would always protect me and I didn't need to be afraid. I learned that it is always the best thing to trust in God. Now, I get a lot more sleep. I'm not as stressed about things that I can't change. I hope that I can continue to grow in trust in God.
