Make A Difference Here

“ …for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”  — Matthew 25:34-36

Perhaps the most crucial thing that God invites us to do outside the church is to respond to the needs of people all around us. God asks us to “neighbor” one another. At South Main, there is a wide spectrum of local and global mission opportunities available for each of us to take up the challenge. You can make a difference with how you answer God’s call.

Community Outreach

South Main and Midtown Houston have grown up together. We are part of where we are, and we respond to the needs of those with whom we share our neighborhood along Main Street with programs here at South Main, led and supported by members of the congregation.

Local Partners

We know we don’t have all the answers or all the experience to meet all of the needs in our community, so we actively partner with a number of local organizations and ministries that share our vision of quenching thirsts with Living Water.

Global Partners

At South Main, we thoughtfully engage with effective global mission efforts all over the world. Many of our efforts are focused in Peru and Kenya as we respond to the challenges of poverty by developing an ongoing reliable relationship with those we seek to serve, such that spiritual transformation can occur, as well.

Cooperative Programs

Our mission endeavors and dollars are made more robust as we link our efforts with those throughout the country. South Main gives generously to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and other organizations which have both a national and international reach, as well as the expertise and connections to accomplish more than we can just by ourselves.

“Worship, discover, share” is South Main’s roadmap for Christian discipleship. Each week, we endeavor to worship God, discover God’s Word, and share with each other and those in need, as we seek balance, direction, and a sacred rhythm for our lives.
