Continuing our sermon series on 2 Timothy, Paul’s last letter, sent to his young protegé Timothy, this Sunday we will examine the wise words Paul passes on not only to Timothy but to us, as well. In a passage from the second chapter of the letter, Paul places before us the option of taking up a different sort of life than the rest of the world follows—a more holy way, a way of purity and honor. Ultimately, the choice between evil desires and purity is ours, and this choice is reflected in the hymns we will sing on Sunday: Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners, Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart, and Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated. The South Main Brass will lead us in worship, the Sanctuary Choir will sing an anthem entitled The Pure in Heart, and we will celebrate the baptism of Michelle Bruce as we come together to worship.
