Worship – Wise Words

2 Timothy 4:6–8

We continue our sermon series on Paul’s last recorded letter, the part of the Bible we call 2nd Timothy, focusing on the very personal words Paul pens as he prepares for the end of his life: "I have fought the good fight,” he writes to Timothy, "I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We also explore the notion of embedding ourselves in a worthy institution to “fight the good fight,” to run our race with intention and purpose with the finish line in mind all the while hewing to the virtues on which a lasting faith in God depends. Our music looks back to the race we have already run in God’s faithfulness, while also looking forward to the finish line. The congregation will sing Higher Ground, We’ve Come This Far By Faith, and When We All Get to Heaven, and the Sanctuary Choir will offer Rise, Shine as a reminder of the eternal joy still to come. Join us this weekend in worship for some poignant wisdom from Paul’s last letter.
