Wise Words

2 Timothy 4:11

This Sunday, we will conclude our sermon series on the book of 2nd Timothy. Our message for the day is based on a text near the conclusion of the letter. In it, we learn that Paul is asking Timothy to bring John Mark to Rome to be with Paul. Our Scriptural knowledge of the life of Paul indicates that there had been an earlier falling out between Paul and John Mark, but here Paul calls John Mark “useful” and seeks a full reconciliation with him. Our observance of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, our hymns, and our Chamber Choir’s pieces all reflect this notion of reconciliation and redemption through the work and body of Christ. At the conclusion of the service, we will bless Addie Grace Albright and her parents Adam and Alli with our Family Covenant blessing.

Monday Over Coffee: "Wrestling"

My son, Charlie, is a big fan of professional wrestling. He knows it’s not “real” in the way most professional sports are—that it’s scripted and staged for the giant audiences it draws. Nevertheless, he finds the dramatic storylines, the larger-than-life personalities, and the fireworks around the whole production entertaining and fun. That is to say, he knows what he’s watching.
